One of the top complaints in Arizona nursing homes are residents who wander off by themselves without any regard for their personal safety. Residents who are cognitively-impaired can wander into a stairwell, another resident’s room or even the kitchen, where there are dangerous instruments.
If the individual is injured while he or she is walking around, the nursing home staff may be held negligent. Other reasons for the nursing home to be held liable are when it is not sufficiently staffed, the existing staff is not properly trained, there are not enough alarms installed or a staff member does not respond to an alarm.
If you suspect negligence at the nursing home where your loved one lives, it is better to be safe than sorry. Report it to the authorities or consult with an experienced Arizona Elder Abuse attorney who will pursue justice for your loved one.
